OF THE BOW RIVER 2010
VOLUNTEER KAYAKERS WANTED for RIVER OF LIGHT a partnership between Creatmosphere and the City of Calgary
Public Art Program for the Celebration of the Bow series.
Summary:
When: Saturday August 21, 2010 9:00PM –
11:00PM
Where: Bow River from Edworthy Park to Princes
Island
Who: Experienced River/Whitewater Kayakers, comfortable boating in the
Dark.
What is happening:
As part of a live public art
event, – River of
light*, five hundred LED-lit floating spheres will be released
from Edworthy Park into the river to float 7 km downstream towards Prince’s
Island. Kayakers will be required
to paddle alongside and behind the spheres, ensuring they remain in the main
water flow until they reach their destination. At the end of the run in the
Princes Island Lagoon, the spheres will be given to volunteers and event
attendees.
Equipment: The City of
Calgary will provide a whitewater kayak and other safety equipment or you may bring your own equipment.
