Sheep River

Grade 1+

This is a short run which can be done in under two hours if you take your time. The run occurs in a gravel bed which has been known to change its features before and after flood each year.

Expect small waves and small ledges spaced between long calm sections. Once you pass the golf course, there is a long class II- section that can create a fun surf wave in high water.

Beginning at the water treatment plant in Okotoks, the river snakes its way east towards highway two.

Suggested Take OUTs:

Once you go under the highway two bridge because there is a lot of wood still left on the banks of the river due to the flood from 2005. Good if river is 6cms or greater on gage.
